What is a double diaphragm pump and how does it work?
Operation of a Diaphragm Pump Suction and Discharge : An Air-Operated Double Diaphragm Pump(AODD Pumps ) in action. Positive displacement pumps are diaphragm pumps. Pumping a fluid is accomplished by combining the reciprocal action of two flexible diaphragms, two ball check valves, and two outlet valves. The diaphragms separate the two pump chambers, which are separated into air and fluid areas. The two diaphragms are linked together in the center area by a shared shaft. This has the effect of one side pumping fluid while the other fills during a cycle. The diaphragm in the left chamber travels towards the center section as the common shaft in the center section moves to the right. This movement creates a vacuum on the left diaphragm's liquid side, raising the lower ball check valve and allowing liquid to flow into the liquid chamber through the suction manifold. Any fluid in the correct chamber is expelled at the same moment. The common shaft shifts when the air distribution sys
